Long Range Planning
Long Range Planning in the City of Mesa
focuses on the "big picture" of how the City should look and
function in the future. It builds upon people and events of the past
that have shaped Mesa's present. It is the tool for making conscious
decisions on how the City should take shape in the coming years. Implements, updates
and maintains the Mesa 2025 General Plan and
associated documents such as Sub-Area Plans, special projects,
and census data. Provides demographic
data for internal and external customers.Sub Area Plans:
The Long Range Planning Section takes the lead role
in the City to work with citizens to prepare
sub-area plans as designated in the General Plan
and neighborhood plans.
Data Analysis:
Provides
statistical
information and maintains demographic data
for the Mesa Planning Area (MPA), including, zoning cases, zoning overlays,
annexation information, general plan, and Census related
data.

Mesa 2025 General Plan
amendments: Applications (minor,
major) - Procedures. Proposed amendments to the
General Plan are considered first by the Planning
and Zoning Board. Their recommendation is forwarded
to the City council for formal action.

GP Major 2008-01:
Mesa Proving Grounds, 3,600 acres
GP Major 2008-02: Pacific Proving, 1,700 acres
