Our customers

We serve a variety of customers—kids, corporations, landscapers, trade associations, home owners, multi-family communities, newcomers and winter visitors.

Our vision and mission

Vision Statement: To provide dynamic leadership in water conservation by cultivating and nurturing an environmentally conscious community possessing a strong water conservation ethic.

Mission Statement: To develop and promote a progressive water conservation program that provides people of all ages the information and inspiration needed to conserve water. "To save water."

Our goals

Water conservation is an important part of any water resource plan. Conservation helps reduce demand and minimize the effects of peak demand on our water system. Mesa's Utilities Conservation Office was established in 1982 as a means of complying with the Arizona Groundwater Code and balancing supply and demand. Mesa's initial goal was to reduce water consumption by six percent. As the program continues to develop, additional goals guide Mesa's water conservation efforts:
  • Education - Continue to develop, expand and enhance water conservation education programs for youth, residential, corporate and multi-family water users and re-evaluate these programs annually.
  • Funding - Increase water conservation work program funding by 25 percent per year by identifying and obtaining alternative funding sources to increase program resources and capabilities.
  • Water Consumption - Maintain gallons per capita per day (GPCD) at or below 185.
  • Policy - Gain support for and develop a City water conservation plan to lead by example in water conservation.
  • Awards & Incentives - Develop, implement and maintain a recognition program for youth, residential, corporate and multi-family water users to reward and recognize good water management practices.
  • Media - Develop a comprehensive mass marketing program to promote water conservation tips, strategies and policies.
