Call Before You Dig - Arizona Blue Stake

Know what’s below.  Safe Digging is No Accident; Always call 811 Before You Dig.

Call for this free service at least two days working days before excavation (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays).

Whether you are building a home, installing a sprinkler system, or just planting a tree, the City of Mesa wants you to be safe. No matter the size of the project, before you dig, grade, or excavate the law requires you to call for all underground utilities to be located. Call for this free service at least two days before excavation.

Arizona Blue Stake was established by utility owners as a one-call notification system to assist homeowners and excavators in identifying the location of underground utilities.

By participating in the program and getting underground facilities located, you will: comply with state law, avoid injuries, prevent costly damages and interruptions of facility services, save time and money, avoid hazards, and eliminate construction delays.

Have you ever noticed color marks on the ground within your neighborhood or community?

These marks are identifying marks of local utility owners such as the City of Mesa, SRP, Southwest Gas, Cox, Qwest, etc. These paint marks are painted according to a corresponding standard color code. These marks are temporary and will fade with time. Please be aware that utility owners will only mark what they own and maintain, typically this means they will only mark to their meter. Anything beyond the meter is customer-owned and maintained, and may not be marked by the utility company.
