The City of Mesa offers a year round natural gas safety program for those elementary schools within the City of Mesa's service territory. The program is geared to fifth-grade students and covers a variety of natural gas topics. A City of Mesa natural gas professional will visit your classroom and lead students through the basics of natural gas and natural gas safety.

The 45-minute presentation includes a brief presentation and a natural gas demonstration. Items of discussion include:

• History of natural gas

• Natural gas distribution

• The uses of natural gas

• Characteristics and properties of natural gas

• Carbon monoxide poisoning

• What to do if you smell gas

Students will receive safety information, stickers, and activity books to take home.
