Grants
Various grant programs are provided by the City of Mesa to
community organizations in the areas of housing, community development, social services and the
arts. This page briefly describes all grant programs administered by the
City of Mesa.

FEDERAL GRANT
PROGRAMS
Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG) - administers federal CDBG funds received annually form the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The City contracts with
nonprofit agencies and other City departments to undertake projects and
improvements that primarily benefit low and moderate-income people and the
neighborhoods in which they live.
HOME Investment Partnership
Program - helps non-profit agencies and developers to expand the supply of decent, affordable housing for
low and very low-income persons. HOME projects include a homebuyer
program; land acquisition, homeowner reconstruction, and development or
rehabilitation affordable multi-family rental properties.
Emergency Shelter Grant -
the City contracts with nonprofit agencies to fund operations of family, men's
and domestic violence shelters for the homeless through ESG funds allocated
annually from HUD.

SOCIAL SERVICES
Human Services Funding - provides annual funding, through
the City's Human Services Program, for a variety of community-based, private,
nonprofit (501 C-3) social services agencies.
ABC Program - grants the City of Mesa utility customers
an opportunity to help others and contribute to a healthier community through
voluntary $1 donations on their utility bills. The City of Mesa is
currently looking for a foundation to match these funds, which will be used for
social service programs that serve the City's most vulnerable populations.

Proposals for the above programs are reviewed and funding
recommendations are made by the Housing and Human Services Advisory Board, and
then are forwarded to the Mesa City Council for final approval.
P.R.I.D.E. Grant
Program -
The Mesa United
Way P.R.I.D.E. (People
& Resources to Improve, Develop, & Energize) program encourages
Mesa residents to identify and build upon the strengths of individuals,
associations, and organizations to create positive benefits for themselves
and their neighbors.
Applicants should be volunteer-driven groups having small-to-no
operating budgets and have limited access to other funding sources.
