Replacement of Fire Station 215 and Police Station

Location: Texas Avenue and Sossaman

Project Description: The fire station at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport was constructed in the 1950's and acquired by the City from the Air Force in 1993 as a result of the closure of the military
base. The Williams Gateway Airport Authority has provided written authorization for the
City of Mesa to lease the WGAA owned land to construct a new fire station. This project
will demolish and construct a replacement fire station on the site built to current
standards to support current equipment and operational needs. Improvements will
include; women's restroom/lockers, fitness space, diesel exhaust removal system,
decontamination area for medical equipment, larger truck bays to support current
equipment size, adequate emergency access to truck bays and functional living/work
areas, etc. This project will also include operational area and office space to support
police operations at WGA. This project includes the cost share purchase of an Aircraft
Rescue Fire Fighting Oshkosh Striker for $1,025,845.
