Williams Gateway Airport and the Williams
Campus are the catalysts for creating a world-renowned transportation
and employment center
in southeast Mesa.
Williams Campus is taking shape as an
educational, research and training facility. By the
year 2020, it is estimated that approximately
20,000 full-time students will be enrolled at Arizona State Polytechnic,
Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Embry - Riddle University, Mesa
Community College and UND Aerospace.
Williams Gateway Airport is planned as a reliever airport and aerospace
center to accommodate general aviation, air cargo, commercial passenger service, aerospace
manufacturing, maintenance and modification. It is well-served by three 10,000-foot runways, federal inspection services, Foreign-Trade
Zone #221, Military Reuse Zone, and uncongested airspace.
Oncoming construction of the San Tan Freeway
(Loop 202) will provide access to major
development sites and a growing population of
more than one million within a 30-minute drive.
