Fire Chief Harry Beck
"Great People, Quality Service!"
Chief
Beck began his career in the fire service in 1973 with the Phoenix Fire
Department. He promoted through the ranks to Deputy Fire Chief in 1984; a
position he held until joining the Mesa Fire Department in 2003.
The City of Mesa has a population of over 450,000,
covering more than 128 square miles and is one of the fastest growing cities in
the nation. With over 450 members and 17 fire stations, the Mesa Fire
Department is known for it's great people, quality service and progressive
practices and is the largest accredited fire department in Arizona. Chief
Beck oversees five Fire Department divisions as well as the Mesa Emergency
Management Division.
Chief Beck is an active member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs,
National Fire Protection Association and the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association.
He also serves as chair of the Maricopa
Association of the Governments 911 Oversight Committee. He holds two
degrees from Arizona State University; A Master of Public Administration
and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Supervision. He also has an
Associates Degree in Fire Science from Phoenix College.
