Bike Team

The Mesa Fire Department
currently has 30 members who belong to the
Bike team, who operate on mountain bikes.
The team is "medical help on wheels", and has the
ability to arrive quickly and render emergency care
in a multitude of situations. The team is highly
effective in providing first aid at crowded
special events or celebrations where
maneuverability for a large fire apparatus is
slowed, extremely difficult or not possible at
all.
A working unit consists of two
members,

one who is a paramedic and one who is
an emergency medical technician. Each
two person team carries a full complement of
advanced life support medical equipment on
their bikes, including an automated external
defibrillator.
The team members are also trained in
off road riding techniques that allow them to
perform valuable search and rescue operations
in the urban interface areas within the City
of Mesa.
