ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility
requirements for admission to the
Section 8 program
are:
- qualify as a family (see below),
-
be within income
limits (see below),
-
meet
citizenship/eligible immigration criteria,
-
provide documentation
of Social Security numbers,
-
sign consent
authorization documents, and
-
pass a
criminal background assessment.
The definition of a family is:

A family
with or without children is
defined as a group of people related by blood,
marriage, adoption or affinity that lives
together in a stable family relationship.

An elderly
family is one in which the head or spouse is at least
62 year of age or older.

A near-elderly family
is one in which the the head or spouse
is at least 50 years of age but under62 years of
age.
-
A disabled
family is one in which the the head or spouse is disabled
using the Social Security definition of
disability.
-
A single
person who is not an elderly or displaced
person, or a person with disabilities, or the
remaining member of a tenant family.
