Apartment Watch

The Apartment Watch program, created by Mesa resident Dan Packard in October 2001, provides residents of apartment communities the opportunity to participate in social and crime prevention activities.  The program is similar to the more traditional Neighborhood Watch found in many of Mesa's single-family home neighborhoods.  The Apartment Watch Program encourages residents to become more involved in their community, and emphasizes improved communication between residents, managers, and law enforcement.  To start an Apartment Watch program in your community, contact the Neighborhood Outreach Office at
480-644-5700 and ask to speak with the Outreach Coordinator serving your area.

Clean Sweep

The City of Mesa's Solid Waste Department has a neighborhood cleanup program whereby roll off containers (boxes 22'  long and 8' wide) are set out in neighborhoods for residents to dispose of items that are too large for the typical trash can-at no cost.  This includes old furniture, mattresses, wood and other miscellaneous debris.  Simply gather 10 or more homeowners living next to each other and submit a Clean Sweep request form.  For details, contact the Clean Sweep Coordinator at
480-644-4791.

Tool Lending

Do you have a neighborhood cleanup project that you would like to organize but need some additional tools?  Then try out the City of Mesa Tool Lending Program.  The Tool Lending has a supply of basic tools such as wheelbarrows, rakes, shovels, and ladders that can be checked out for a weekend project.  this program is available to any registered neighborhood group.  For more information or to check out tools, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 480-644-3705.

Special Projects

Are there alleys or homes that need sprucing up in your neighborhood, but residents are unable to take care of it themselves?  The Neighborhood Outreach Office may be able to help you coordinate a special project to get the job done!  Projects may be completed which otherwise might not be possible by partnering with local businesses, other City divisions, as well as Maricopa County Adult Probation and other community service groups.  They can provide extra labor and materials over and above what your neighborhood can provide.  To inquire about a possible special project for your neighborhood, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 480-644-3705.
