Minimum Qualification(s) Required. Graduation from high
school or GED. Applicant must have completed an Arizona Post
Academy and be certified as a full-time sworn peace officer
with an Arizona P.O.S.T certified law enforcement agency in
good standing. Tiered starting salary available based on
sworn peace officer experience.
Special Requirements:
Successful completion of an extensive background investigation, along with
polygraph, physical agility, medical, and psychological examinations are
required. A Police Officer-Lateral is not required to
attend the Mesa Police Academy.
Starting Salary
Range for a Lateral Officer is:
$48,401.60
to 68,744.00 Annually
$48,401.60 -
Less than 10 months experience
$50,856.00 -
10 months - 1 year experience
$53,518.40 -
1-2 years experience
$56,284.80 -
62,212.80 - greater than 2 years and depending on experience

four years at $68,744.00.
