The Mission
The Planning Division provides professional planning
and technical services to guide the orderly
development of an attractive, healthy, livable
community, and promote a high quality, dynamic,
diverse, and sustainable built environment.

tomorrow.
Functional Areas
Long
Range Planning
focuses on the "big picture" of how
the City should look and function in the future. Processes general
plan major amendments, sub-area plans, and area
plans.
Current
Planning
processes planning applications needed for Planning
and Zoning, Design Review, Planning Hearing Officer,
and Land Division. Applications may include
zoning changes, general plan amendments, design
review, and/or subdivision plats. Plan
Review processes pre-submittal applications,
applications screening, plan
reviews, and performs planning inspections.
Zoning
Administration processes planning
applications needed for the Board of Adjustment, Zoning
Administrator Hearing Officer, and Civil Hearing
Officer. Applications may be for use permits,
variances, development incentive permits, and
substantial conformance improvement permits.
The
purpose of Mesa's
Historic Preservation Program is to encourage preservation planning, facilitation
of public
knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the
City’s historic past, and to promote better
awareness of its architectural and cultural history.
GIS & Mapping Analysis
inputs and maintains the land, citywide utilities infrastructure,
and produces customized maps for internal and
external customers.
