The Mesa Police Department is committed to the preservation and protection of
the rights of crime victims and witnesses. The department recognizes that many
innocent people suffer economic loss, injury, or death due to criminal acts.
Thus, the Victim Services Unit of the Mesa Police Department is committed to
supporting citizens in returning to functional and productive lives by reducing
the impact of victimization as a result of crime.
The Victim Services Unit provides the following
services and programs:

Outreach and Notification

Crisis Intervention, both on-scene and at the
Center Against Family Violence (CAFV).

Direct services to victims through community-based agencies.
-
Access to a counselor, experienced in crisis work.

Referrals for individual, family, educational, support and
self-help counseling and groups.

Information and applications for the Victim Compensation
Program.

Information and educational material regarding
victimization.

Information regarding your
Arizona Crime Victims' Rights.
You can expect the following from the Victim
Services Unit:

Support and information regarding Victims and their Rights.

Individualized support, regardless of whether the crime was
violent or against property.

Respectful treatment from justice officials and the
community for victim needs.
The Victim Services Unit is comprised of a Victim Services
Administrator, two victim notification clerks, three victim services
specialists, a victim assistance volunteer coordinator, and, at present, 34
volunteers who have received a minimum of 40 hours of training in crisis
intervention and training specific to dealing with victims of crime. Volunteers
provide 24 hour, on-scene, crisis intervention services in Mesa. Services
provided include crisis intervention, education, support and referral.
The Victim Services Unit personnel are available from 8 am
through 5 pm, Monday through Friday. If the situation is an emergency or
requires emergency crisis intervention, persons should contact the Mesa Police
Department by calling 9-1-1. If the situation is a non-emergency, contact
