Fictitious Bank Forms
A new fraud scheme has surfaced involving banks. Con
artists are sending out fictitious bank forms to customers that say they
are from the bank's fraud control division. They infer that the
customer's account has been compromised and as part of the investigation
they ask the customer to provide bank and personal information. They
even include a toll-free phone number and prepaid envelope to assist the
customer! If you receive letters or phone calls from people representing
your bank and wanting to verify your personal information, please check
with the bank to confirm that these letters/calls are legitimate.
