Check Fraud
Check fraud has
become a multi-billion dollar racket in the U.S. In the East
Valley most check fraud results from mailbox break-ins. The Phoenix area
was already the number one area in the country for mailbox break-ins and
the numbers are still climbing. You can help prevent check fraud by
depositing your mail in a secured mail receptacle such as the blue
collection boxes at the post office -- do not leave outgoing mail
accessible to thieves, fill out your check with uni-ball gel ink pens
(this ink cannot be washed off with chemicals), and promptly report lost or stolen
checks to your bank.
