City Employees Claiming to be Checking Services
February 2005 -- Recently there have been cases in
Mesa and surrounding cities of criminals posing as
City utility workers. These criminals, who usually
work in teams, approach the homeowner and tell them
they are with the City water department. Then one of
them distracts the homeowner by pretending to check
the water pipes while another burglarizes the home.
If someone comes to your door saying they are with
the City, you should call the department they
represent and verify that they have workers in your
area. Please be very careful not to open your door
to strangers.
