Con Artists
In another incident, an elderly woman in Mesa answered
a knock on at her door and there stood two women and a little girl. The
women asked the elderly woman information on renting an apartment in the
complex and as they asked questions they entered into the apartment.
They then asked for water for the little girl. As the woman was getting
the water, one of the women went into the bedroom and stole the woman's
wallet from her purse. This is a typical ruse con artists use to gain
confidence and entry into a home, along with asking for the bathroom or
the telephone. Please remember -- do not open your door to strangers.
