Mesa Police Department Cons, Frauds & Scams
IRS Tax Refunds
Scam artists are taking advantage of the new tax refunds for Advance Child
Credit. The Internal Revenue Service is warning taxpayers to be alert for the
scam. The scam starts when the taxpayer receives a phone call from someone who
says they can speed up the delivery of the tax credit for a fee of $39.99
charged to the taxpayer's credit card. Of course, if the taxpayer goes along
with the scam, they are not only out the $39.99, but they've given out their
credit card number. The IRS says that no one can speed up the refunds.
