Mother and boyfriend arrested for child abuse
On Monday, April 21, 2008, Mesa Police arrested
and booked Brandy R. Williams, 27, and Shaun L.
Simpson, 28, for child abuse.
On April 16, 2008 Brandy Williams' 8-year-old
daughter was suspended from school. When Williams
found out about the suspension, she told her
daughter to bend over because she was going to hit
her on the buttocks. Williams folded a belt and hit
her daughter 12 times on the buttocks and upper leg
area. Bruises and discoloration were seen on the
victim. Williams' boyfriends, Shaun Simpson, said
Williams told him she felt bad for hitting the
victim hard. Simpson stated when he attempted to
check for any bruising on the victim, she began to
kick and push away. He further stated he only wanted
to turn her over and check for bruising, but instead
he threw her against the wall causing there to be a
hole in the wall.
On Saturday, April 19, 2008, the 8-year-old
victim reported that her mother hit her on the head
with a hanger and sat on her head. Williams denied
hitting the victim with a hanger this past Saturday;
however, she did hit her with a small plastic hanger
approximately two weeks ago and sat on her to
restrict her movement.
The victim is currently in child protective
custody.
