Lindy Marino
Lindy has been in law enforcement since 1989 -- six years with
Prince George's County Police, Maryland, Press Information Office writing press
releases, speeches and planning special
events; and since 1995 with the Mesa Police Department. After attending the Mesa
Police Crime Scene Academy, Lindy worked in the Crime Scene Unit for 2-1/2 years
before joining the Community Relations Unit in June of 1998.
As an Internationally Certified Crime Prevention Officer, Lindy works with
members of the community to resolve community problems and concerns. She also
teaches a variety of crime prevention classes, including
Preventing Violence
in the Workplace and Personal Safety. Lindy is also a
RAD (Rape
Aggression Defense) instructor and teaches women's personal safety courses.
She coordinates
all GAIN (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods) activities, including
Mesa's GAIN event every October and conducts
CPTED's for and works with the businesses
in the Red Mountain District.
Lindy has two degrees in government, a Masters in Counseling/Psychology, and
in May 2001 graduated Summa Cum Laude from NAU with a M.Ed. She is a member of
the International Society of Crime
Prevention Practitioners (ISCPP), and the Arizona Crime Prevention Association (ACPA).
Lindy is a certified CPTED (Crime Prevention
Through Environmental Design) Practitioner, and is certified by AZPOST
(Arizona Peace Officer Standards in Training) as a general instructor for crime
prevention topics. Lindy is also the State Director for
R.A.D.
