Are you eligible for a reduced fare?

Children under age six are not charged fare for local or express bus service when accompanied by a responsible, fare-paying adult.  Free fares do not apply to dial-a-ride service.

Youths (6-18), seniors (65 and over), persons with disabilities and Medicare card holders are eligible for reduced fares on all local Valley Metro routes.  You can also buy money-saving monthly passes by mail or at selected outlets.  You must be prepared to show proof of age or eligibility to receive the reduced fares.

Proof of Eligibility for Reduced Fares

Persons with disabilities can show a Medicare card or a Valley Metro Reduced-Fare Identification Card as proof of eligibility.  Seniors and youths can show a Valley Metro Reduced-Fare Identification Card, a birth certificate or other proof of age such as a valid Arizona Driver's License, an Arizona Non-Driver's ID or a school ID with picture and date of birth.  A Medicare card also serves as proof of age for people 65 or over, and as proof of eligibility for other people who have been issued Medicare cards by the Social Security Administration.

All of the previously mentioned forms of identification can be used on local bus routes throughout the metro area as well as on Valley Dial-A-Rides.
