Transportation
Transportation employs
nearly 150 people to meet the City's growing transportation needs.
Our mission is to serve the public by planning, designing, operating, and maintaining a high
quality, multi-modal transportation system for the City of Mesa. The
Department is constantly looking ahead by planning for the anticipated growth of
the area and providing a transportation system that contributes to an overall
high quality of life for our residents. Our staff is proud to be
driving Mesa's future!

In addition to providing support to the Department,
Administration staff provide traffic engineering design
technical guidance for development and road improvement
projects, technical assistance for traffic barricading, and
financial planning and budgeting. |

Field Operations |

Field Operations staff focus on the daily maintenance and repair
of existing roads and right-of-ways. They monitor the condition
of City streets and infrastructure and establish maintenance priorities. |

Traffic Engineering |

Traffic Engineering staff are responsible for all traffic
control on the City's surface streets, as well as traffic
signals, traffic calming, management of traffic data, education and crash
records.

Transportation Planning and Transit staff are responsible for
citywide and regional planning and programming of street,
bicycle and pedestrian networks and transit services including
bus, light rail and bus rapid transit. |
