professionals that are available to give
presentations to schools, organizations and the
general public. We are also available to attend
local community outreach events. For more

Queen Creek's Annual Winterfest

San Tan Area Holiday Festival
A large crowd gathered for a great time at this
year's Winterfest - San Tan Area Holiday Festival on
December 2nd in Johnson Ranch. This year's
event brought out more than 4300 people. This
family event included a visit with Santa, games and entertainment as well
as Arts/Crafts, food, and local vendors. The City of
Mesa Gas Division was also on hand giving out natural
gas safety information.

Lincoln Elementary School
Health and Safety Fair

The Gas Division participated in Lincoln Elementary's Health and Safety Fair on Friday,
September 29th. The event was a night of
learning, sharing and fun for all.

National Preparedness Day
On
Saturday, September 9, approximately 300
people attended the National Preparedness Day event in East Mesa. Mesa's
Police Department hosted the event that featured numerous static displays, emergency response
vehicles, homeland security and many other organizations that are involved with emergency
preparedness and response. Participants learned how to
prepare a 72-hour kit, where to go in the event of an evacuation,
how to tend to pets during a disaster, volunteer opportunities to
help during a disaster, and what local agencies are doing to prepare for a
large scale emergency. There were demonstrators on how to fill
sandbags and how to use a fire extinguisher.
Utilities staff takes gas
safety message on the road to local schools and
senior centers
During April and May, Jennifer Codd of the Gas
Division and Matt Boyer of Utility Services visited
the East and West Mesa Senior Centers, and nearly
750 fifth-grade students at various schools within
the City of Mesa's natural gas service territory to
promote natural gas safety. Staff covered where gas
comes from, its properties and characteristics, who
to contact in an emergency, and what to do if you
smell gas. Presentations received high marks from
students and teachers.
Mesa's fifth Neighborhood
Conference
Mesa's fifth Neighborhood Conference was held on
Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the Mesa Arts Center. The Gas Division
was on hand to answer questions and hand out natural gas
safety information.
Skyline Ranch School Spring
Festival
The City of Mesa's Gas Division participated in this year's Skyline Ranch School Spring
Festival in Queen Creek on Saturday, April 8th from 10 am to 2 pm.
The event drew in about 350 participants. The school is located within the City of
Mesa's natural gas service territory at 1084 W. San Tan Hills.
Royal Palms Neighborhood
Event
One of Mesa's registered communities, Royal Palms,
held a Neighborhood event for its residents on Saturday, March 25 from
10 am to noon. Several City of Mesa Departments were on hand to give out information on City Services to about
75 residents.
