Prescription Drugs

New Federal prescription drug disposal guidelines urge residents to dispose of any unused, unneeded or expired medication in the trash or take them to a pharmaceutical take-back location for safe disposal.  Residents are being asked to avoid throwing them down the drain as the drugs may pass through sewage treatment plants and septic tanks into surface waters, soils, and the groundwater.
