Recycling Shredded Paper
Shredded paper is ACCEPTABLE in the blue barrel
under the following condition:
- Shredded paper must be bagged and tied in a CLEAR plastic bag. Do
not use plastic grocery bags as they are not clear enough for recycling
sorters to easily see through them and they will discard them as trash.
Residents may purchase these clear plastic bags by visiting their local
office supply retailer.
*Please note that this is the only time plastic bags are allowed in the blue
barrel which are not acceptable under Mesa's recycling program. However, this
exception is made to ensure that the shredded paper is properly processed at the
recycling facility. When not bagged, the shredded paper is too small for
sorting.
