What's New
New
Federal prescription drug disposal guidelines
urge residents to dispose of any unused, unneeded or
expired medication in the trash or take them to a
pharmaceutical take-back location for safe disposal.
Residents are being asked to avoid throwing them
down the drain as the drugs may pass through sewage
treatment plants and septic tanks into surface
waters, soils, and the groundwater.
Residents can learn about barrel
basics to ensure collection of their black, blue and
green barrels.

Are you filling up your 90-gallon black barrel on a weekly basis? If not,
then consider switching to a 60-gallon black barrel instead. Designed for
customers who do not produce a significant amount of trash, utilizing this
barrel size can reduce your monthly trash bill from $22.66 to $20.22, generating
a $2.44 monthly savings.

For the safety of our drivers and other recycling personnel, Mesa residents
are aked to NOT place propane or oxygen tanks into their blue barrels.
Placing these items into the blue barrels increases the risk of potential
explosions and fire during the recycling process which includes compaction of
the collected materials. Residents should bring these items to our
Household
Hazardous Waste Collection Events for proper disposal. (Tanks do not
need to be empty)
