Caraz, Peru

Caraz is the gateway to the beautiful peaks of the Parque Nacional Huascarán.

Caraz located in the Ancash region of Peru, became Mesa's third Sister City in 1989. The Cordillera Blanca, the highest range of mountains in the tropical world, surrounds the village of Caraz, home to 7,000 people. 

Mesa resident, Dr. Raul Osorio, a native of Caraz was instrumental in establishing and continuing Mesa's relationship with this Sister City.  As a result of our association, Dr. Osorio and his team of medical volunteers have undertaken several medical missions to take doctors, nurses and paramedics to treat medically needy people in the Caraz area.
